Best and worst skins to buy

A rising price is no use if you can't sell it back afterwards. That's why every item here is measured on both: where the price went over the week and the month, and whether the item actually trades. Momentum sets the rating, and liquidity can only pull it down.

How the rating is calculated

Momentum is the 7-day and the 30-day change blended WITH THEIR SIGN: 60% from the week and 40% from the month. Because the sign carries through, the two argue with each other: a week up 10% inside a month down 10% blends to +2% and lands in Neutral, which is the honest reading of a bounce inside a decline. Above 8% the item reaches the top band; above 3%, the second one; and the same mirrored downwards. When one window is missing, the other answers on its own.

Liquidity is not added: it compresses the POSITIVE side of the rating towards neutral, from 0.55 (a market that does not move) up to 1.00 from 50 on the feed index. A rising but illiquid skin slides down to Neutral, because you do not realise a gain you cannot exit. Even so it never drops to Avoid: liquidity discounts the gain, it does not manufacture the fall. And no item climbs the ranking for being too liquid. Markets that do not publish liquidity, such as CSFloat and Skinport, are not penalised: the column reads “no liquidity” and the rating is momentum alone.

The ranking covers the 1500 most traded items inside the current filter, priced from US$ 1 up. Below that, percentage change is rounding noise: a three-cent item moving to four cents “rose 33%”. Items with neither a 7-day nor a 30-day change stay out and are counted separately, above the scale.

This reads the past, it does not predict the future. The rating describes how the item had been behaving at the last feed read, which happens hourly, and it is not buying advice.

Prime entry
80–100
Week and month add up to a strong rise, and the turnover lets you exit.
Good entry
62–79
A moderate rise across both windows, with enough turnover to sell it back.
Neutral
39–61
Week and month cancel out, or else thin trading undoes the rise there was.
Weak entry
21–38
Across both windows the fall outweighs the rise.
Avoid
0–20
A steep fall across both windows, and hard to get back out of.
